Citygrid

How it works

Citygrid is an intelligent control system that enables energy-efficient lighting installations where lighting can be adapted to the needs at a specific location. With occupancy detection, the light level for a specified number of luminaires is increased to a predefined level, e.g. 100%. The luminaires turn on ahead of you and remain on behind you for a set time after you’ve passed.

Occupancy detection is with a passive infrared (PIR) sensor and the luminaires communicate via a radio protocol (6LoWPAN 868.3 MHz).

Major potential for energy savings

With Citygrid, you can save a substantial amount of energy while preserving the sense of security and good visual comfort. The major energy savings are made possible because you can dim the luminaires to a low level, such as to 20%, when no one is present.

Open and scalable

The system is both open and scalable; you can easily add extra luminaires, modify or optimise an existing installation and upgrade to Connected Solution at any time. The system is configured through the Citygrid app available for Android devices (not iOS devices) and downloaded Google Play.

The Citygrid sensor can be integrated in luminaires or installed on a Zhaga socket or a Citygrid On Pole device.

Simple programming

The system is easily programmed onsite using an app and a Bluetooth dongle. The system is bidirectional, which means that all luminaires serve both as masters and slaves that communicate with each other. After initial programming, it’s enough to connect to one luminaire to reach the others.

Each installation is assigned a unique identity and password that you enter when connecting. With a clear map overview of the luminaires, you can determine the number of luminaires that will light when people are present and for how long, as well as the level the luminaires will be dimmed to after they leave. You can use custom settings to match various traffic conditions or choose between the predefined lighting scenarios that come with the app. Citygrid is available for Android devices. Download the Citygrid app in Google Play.

Versions of Citygrid in luminaires 3.png

Integrated in luminaire

Luminaires can have integrated Citygrid devices and passive infrared sensor (PIR) sensors for occupancy control, and communicate with each other wirelessly via a radio protocol.

On Pole device

Citygrid's external On Pole device controls the luminaire via DALI, and the On Pole devices communicate with each other wirelessly via a radio protocol. The result is an open solution where the control system can be used with all LED luminaires, regardless of manufacturer. In other words, you are not relegated to using a single supplier.

Zhaga devices

Citygrid is also available with separate Zhaga nodes for installation in Zhaga sockets on luminaires prepared for this, in accordance with Zhaga Book 18. There are communication-only devices that can be used in combination with a compatible DALI occupancy detector or alternatively a device that has both parts built into the same housing. The devices communicate with each other wirelessly via a radio protocol. The result is an open solution where the control system can be used with all LED luminaires, regardless of manufacturer. In other words, you are not relegated to using a single supplier.
